Putting Theory into Practice.
Studying in the tourism hubs of Queenstown or Paihia, students quickly understand how important the tourism and hospitality sector is to the New Zealand economy.
Industry immersion starts on day one at QRC and we are proud to have an extensive industry network across New Zealand and around the globe.
With dedicated internship managers, students are taught the importance of personal brand, effective communication and are enabled to develop tangible job-seeking skills.
A Fully Paid 9-Month Internship
The purpose of both the diploma programmes is to provide a seamless transition from tertiary education to graduate employment in the adventure tourism / hospitality sector. Pivotal to Graduate success is the completion of the fully paid internship midway through the programme which provides the opportunity to apply practical skills and knowledge within the professional industry environment.
The unique learning outcomes see students becoming a practitioner who can apply themselves to departmental roles at industry standards & deploy self management strategies. QRC internship students are capable and ready to reason their theoretical classroom learning and industry knowledge in the analysis of policies and processes within business and utilise standard industry practices to resolve problems in the workplace.
QRC’s expectation of industry partners is for employers to treat our student/intern the same as they would any other employee; offering them the chance to undergo in-house training and gain practical experience and exposure to the industry. The employer also commits to the student’s direct line manager completing a performance report at the 3-month mark, allowing us to assess how they are tracking and offer any additional
support if required, and then again at the end of employment to enable us assess the development of the student while under the guidance and mentoring of the company
- New Zealand & East Coast Australia; students are encouraged to leverage the advantage of QRC’s extensive network of industry partners. From Hamilton Island and Wolgan Valley in Australia to iconic NZ brands across the country, the opportunity to learn from within and network among the leaders in tourism and hospitality is at hand
- Worldwide; students are able to travel across the globe to pursue their specific interest where commitment and understanding from the employer can be assured & visa requirements are met by the student.
Students identify the location and businesses that are most of interest to them for internship and are supported to achieve this goal.
