What has been a highlight of your internship so far?
- Highlight of my internship is that Blanket Bay is situated in one of the most beautiful and remote areas of New Zealand, surrounded by stunning scenery and natural wonders. Also, the Unique work environment: Working at Blanket Bay means being a part of a small and exclusive team, focused on providing a high level of service to guests in a luxurious and tranquil setting.
What tips and advice would you give to students about to go on internship?
- Some tips and advice would be: Before applying for internships, take some time to reflect on what you hope to gain from the experience. Consider your career goals, skills you want to develop, and what type of work environment you thrive in. Use this information to guide your search and make sure you are applying for opportunities that align with your goals. Also don’t be afraid to reach out to people in your desired field or industry. A day in the life of Reuben on internship:
- As a porter/maintenance staff member at Blanket Bay Lodge, my day typically starts with helping guests depart the lodge and checking for any maintenance issues that need attention. Throughout the day, I respond to guest requests for assistance, help with luggage and transportation, and maintain the overall cleanliness and appearance of the property. Also, I greet guests when they arrive and park their vehicles.
- I also work with the maintenance team to handle repairs and perform preventative maintenance tasks. Additionally, I may assist with setting up for events or activities, and provide guests with recommendations and information about the surrounding area. Overall, my day is focused on providing excellent service to guests and ensuring the smooth operation of the lodge.
