QRC to open culinary school in Bay of Islands

QRC is delighted to announce the opening of QRC Culinary located in Kerikeri, Bay of Islands.

QRC has purchased the assets of the former Culinary Institute of New Zealand and will reopen the premises in February 2017 to deliver in-demand cookery qualifications.

The culinary programmes complement QRC’s successful Hospitality Management Diploma already being delivered in Paihia and Queenstown.

“A combination of tourism booming, the opportunity to introduce local youth into the sector and the overwhelming community support has led to QRC’s further commitment to the region,” said QRC CEO Charlie Phillips.

As the tourism industry continues to thrive, QRC is confident the college’s graduates will go on to forge careers in New Zealand’s renowned restaurants, hotels and resorts.

QRC Culinary will offer Levels 3 and 4 Certificates in Culinary Arts and a Level 5 Diploma in Culinary Arts. The delivery will follow QRC’s model blending theory, practical and professional learning.

Students have the option to live at QRC Halls of Residence in Paihia, where students enjoy an environment of camaraderie and an excellent and supportive study environment.

Pending NZQA approval, QRC Culinary will open in mid-February and look to offer regular intakes throughout the year. A smooth transition for students from the Culinary Institute to QRC Culinary is being facilitated to minimise any disruption to current students and staff.

QRC Culinary will be conducting various recruitment and community events early in 2017 so both the community and learners have a clear understanding of the institution and programmes on offer.
