The aim of this micro-credential is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of data analytics. Learners will apply data analytics components to support organisation needs and be able to describe and discuss the key concepts of data analytics.

Upon completion of this micro-credential, learners/ākonga will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the data life cycle within the context of business analytics to support organisational decision-making.
  2. Apply the fundamentals of data preparation utilising Microsoft PowerBI and Tableau.
  3. Implement a data analytics solution utilising Tableau to support decision-making in organisations.
  4. Interpret live data using a PowerBI dashboard for business analysis.
  5. Document data insights from databases using visualisation tools to support reporting in organisations.

Graduates of the micro-credential will be able to apply the fundamentals of data analytics to entry-level roles in the New Zealand tech, corporate, health, education sectors as:

  • Entry-level Data Analyst
  • Entry-level Data-driven Decision-Making Specialist
  • Entry-level Data-driven Sales Representative

We recommend Modern Computing Essentials as a prerequisite for Data Analytics Fundamentals.

Certificate in Machine Learning Fundamentals | 40 Credits.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for entry, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 17 years of age at course commencement
  • All applicants will require a pre-course discussion with the Academic Director to align suitability
  • International Students: IELTS score of at least 5.5 with no band score lower than 5.0 or equivalent
