Studying tech in-person offers hands-on guidance, personalized feedback, and the opportunity to collaborate directly with peers and instructors. It fosters an interactive environment where complex concepts are easier to grasp through real-time support and practical exercises. Additionally, in-person learning provides valuable networking opportunities, helping you build connections with like-minded individuals and professionals in the tech industry.

Work on Your Soft Skills

Our tech courses doesn’t just focus on technical skills; they also help participants develop the soft skills essential for success. By working in small groups and collaborating on real-world projects, students will improve their communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. Presenting ideas and receiving feedback fosters critical thinking and adaptability, both crucial in the fast-paced tech industry. FAQ

No tech background required - how does that work?

Our courses are designed for beginners. We’ll take you from zero to hero, starting with the basics. Think learning to crawl before you run-and before you know it, you’re planning for a marathon! We’ll guide you through those first baby steps, giving you everything you need to eventually take off and run.*

*Obviously just like marathons, a bit of training is involved.

Will I learn to code?

Machine Learning Fundamentals
You’ll get hands-on experience starting to code in Python, one of the most popular programming languages out there. Plus, you’ll dive into the same machine learning libraries that real-world industry pros use.

Data Analytics Fundamentals
The programmes used in data analytics are built on simple coding ‘languages’ designed to work with data. Don’t worry—you won’t need to learn too much coding, and we’ll guide you through it step by step. If you’ve used Excel, it will feel familiar, but even if you haven’t, it’s easy to learn.

Cloud Computing Fundamentals
No coding is required for this course.

What equipment do I need?

All you need is a laptop or PC that meets these basic specs:

  • 8GB memory
  • 128GB SSD or HDD hard drive, with at least 10 GB free
  • Mac or PC
  • A Graphics Processor/AI Accelerator is recommended but not needed
What is the workload for the course?

For the Core Courses, lectures are daily from Monday to Friday wrapping up by 1pm and there will be self-directed workshops to solidify your learning. It’s a full-time experience, but we make sure you’re not drowning in coursework so you can enjoy what Queenstown has to offer and maintain a part time job if needed.

Are there any extra costs involved?

If you’ve already got a laptop that fits the specs above, then no worries, you’re set! Other than that, the only costs will be for travel to class and accommodation if you’re joining us in person in Queenstown. And if you need a place to stay, we’ve got you covered at Shotover Lodge, our accommodation located in Arthurs Point. Contact tech@qrc.ac.nz for more information about accommodation availability and pricing.
