Where are you completing your internship?
Seb: I have done the first half of my internship with NZ Ski as a Lift Operator up Coronet Peak
Edward: I am doing my internship at NZ Ski in the rentals department.
What is your role and what are your responsibilities?
Seb: My role is to safely transport customers up the mountain so that they can enjoy the fresh corn and other terrain the peak has to offer.
Edward: My role and responsibilities is issuing gear out for customers to enjoy skiing, my main responsibility is to ensure the correct gear is issued for their safety.
How was it working in alpine conditions?
Seb: It was awesome, I felt right at home in the environment and would 100% do it again.
Edward: Working in the alpine environment can be harsh but luckily I am based indoors.
What has been the best thing about working with NZ Ski?
Seb: The opportunity was great, same with the incentives, but it’s got to be being able to shred everyday for the whole season.
Edward: The best thing about working for NZ Ski is the amount of deals we get with other local businesses
With the season coming to an end, where will you complete the rest of your internship hours?
Seb: Haven’t found a place yet, but I have many places in mind for where to go to next.
Edward: At the end of the ski season, I’ll be up skyline as a gondola operator.
How did the internship team help with your placement?
Seb: KP’s help was so amazing, she made getting this job feel so much easier for me.
Edward: Adam and KP helped so much in our help to find a job, with setting up speed interviews with different departments in NZ Ski.
What advice would you give those about to go on internship?
Seb: Sleep. Sleep is your best friend.
Edward: Some advice for internship would be to make the most of where you are working at.
