QRC alumni Logan Preston has launched his own exciting jet boating business only months after graduating with an Adventure Tourism Management Diploma.
Logan’s new venture, Tekapo Jet, takes visitors on an exciting and spectacular tour of Lake Tekapo, located in the South Island of New Zealand, visiting iconic landmarks as well as thrilling them with jet boat maneuvers and spins.
Logan identified the gap in the adventure activity market in Tekapo during his QRC internship in the Mackenzie region. His Tekapo Jet business plan took shape as part of a project during his final term completing a Adventure Tourism Management Diploma.
The Diploma teaches students the particulars of managing an adventure tourism business, from marketing and superb customer service to managing your profits and ensuring safety.
Working with his parents and utilising the skills and knowledge he’d gained in the industry, Logan attained the relevant licenses, consents, safety and operating certificates and acquired a business loan.
Logan completed QRC in October 2017 and on Boxing Day, officially launched the Tekapo Jet. Read more about his story on Stuff.co.nz.
Other successful QRC alumni businesses to date include wine tours, quad biking, social media, bike safaris, outdoor equipment, water sports, restaurants, photography, bakeries and gastro pubs.
